Buddy Clyde talks Terry Black

Postby radiofan » Tue Sep 14, 2010 9:25 am

A question came up about Terry Black in the Today In Broadcast and Entertainment History forum
that featured a 1964 CFUNtastic Fifty that had "Unless You Care" as the #2 song ... Larry "Firedog"
Morton went to his archives and found the September 14th 1964 Vancouver Times which included
the following column by CHAN TV DANCE PARTY host BUDDY CLYDE ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

I remember interviewing him in the control room at CKOV during "YAFI" between 4 and 5 in the afternoon.
"You Asked For It" was pretty much the only rock programming on the station at the time, except for Friday and Saturday nights from 11pm until sign off at 1am.
He was accompanied by his female manager, a pretty scary demanding woman who basically told the poor kid what to say.
She watched him as does a hawk a mouse.
I think I may have been a year or two older than he at the time.
We talked on air and played his record and as soon as it started, she hustled him out the door on to the next stop, probably CJIB in Vernon or CKOK in Penticton.
