Ads for Who You Don't Play

From this morning's Today in History, I could not help but notice the picture of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and TDM's mention of the "very exciting Seigal-Schwall Blues Band".

Both were scheduled for upcoming performances in Vancouver, but, I have to presume that CKLG-AM never played or charted either of them. Of course, CKLG-FM did, as did CJOR during Tim Burge's short stay there in 1967.

As well as the obvious "Huh?", it got me wondering whether CKLG-AM ran ads for the two concerts. After all, while I was at CHQM in 1971-72, they ran ads in heavy rotation for a Tom Jones concert, but they never played his music. The real disconnect there was airing them with their background of Tom singing "Delilah" in the middle of a classical music program.

I just don't get it.

In previous weeks, TDM has made mention of CKLG FM on air specials and features as well as concert promotions.

I guess his weekly column was more music related than just CKLG AM hype.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.
