For those of you who worked in radio during the days of Pirate radio, may be interested in the following I gleaned from my latest package from RockIt Radio. I recall fondly working with Roger Scott at CFOX in Montreal....Roger came to us from WPTR in Albany, N.Y. He told me he had briefly worked at a British pirate station. This should be a good movie to see....likely opening in Canada the same time as the U.S. Here's the info...............
Seems like we have been talking about it for months. The big screen movie that was released earlier this year in the U.K. titled
'The Boat that Rocked' - the name has been changed to 'Pirate Radio' and is due to be released in the U.S. on November 13th.
The movie is loosely based on the story of Offshore Radio and
thus Pirate Radio in the Mid 60's and the true story of Radio Caroline. (named after Caroline Kennedy) who the owner of the ship thought was adorable.
It should be a fun movie to watch and of interest to many followers
of the Free Radio movement of the 60's.
If you would like to read more on the real history of Offshore Radio
in the UK - Rock-it Radio has it's own tribute webpage at:
