OTTAWA — Ottawa radio station EZ-Rock is tweaking its music format after only a year on the air.
In an announcement to be made Thursday, the station will be renamed BOOM and play music from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. The station, at 99.7 FM, is dropping the music of contemporary artists and playing a “greatest hits” format from those decades, said general manager Denis Bouchard.
“Radio is so competitive now, but this is more a narrow positioning of the music. But the target demo of women 35 to 54 is not changing,” said Bouchard.
Neil Hedley, a co-host of EZ-Rock’s morning show since the station began broadcasting, has left. No other staff changes are planned, Bouchard said.
