Regina's Lite 92 Is now MY 92.1

Postby 45 RPM » Tue Aug 02, 2011 8:38 pm

Has anyone in Regina heard anything about a name and format change at Regina's Lite 92 tonight at Midnight?

What I've heard from someone within a Harvard station in Alberta is that Lite 92 will become MY FM.

Is Regina 1 or 2 hours ahead? The Saskatchewan time zone situation and their partial non-observance of DST has always confused me. Regardless, here's a link to the stream (whether the flip happens at 10PM or 11PM PDT).

Saskatchewan is only one hour ahead of BC this time of year. I'll check closer to 11 PDT so I don't have to subject myself to John Tesh.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

No no no, it's not partial non-observance. It's year-round observance.

Midnight TOH was Lite 92. 12:05 splitter was My 92.1 . Website hasn't changed yet. No idea if the music is different.

Lite 92 had very stagnant ratings for years. Some sort of change was needed.

Yet the voice over lady is the same and the music seems the same, so we'll see if a new name adds a ratings boost.

Sadly, long time Regina announcer Lisa Green was a casualty of the re-branding having been shown the door last week. Lisa Green was with Lite 92 since its inception in 2001 and worked prior for 620 CKCK and 104.9 The Wolf.

For radio trivia buffs:

If my Regina radio history is correct, this is the sixth name for 92.1 since the station adopted the CHMX call sign in 1991.

As Hot AC: "Mix 92" (1991-1994), as Country: "MX 92.1FM" (1994-1998), "Country 92" (1998-1999), as CHR/Dance "Kiss 92 FM" (1999-2001), as Soft AC: "Lite 92 FM" (2001-2011), "MY 92.1" (present)

The new website http://www.my921.ca just says Coming Soon

The logo came from a refresh on the audio player after midnight.

"Feel Good Now" .. I am wondering if Rawlco was about to place the "UP" format on one of their Regina sticks and Harvard has beat them to the punch? An identity and format change at Midnight
makes it seem like something that was done very quickly ... without a lot of lead-in time.

The new website is working now.

I wouldn't be very surprised if Rawlco rebrands Z99 to "98.9 Now Radio" soon.

And the video spot on their facebook page looks familiar... oh yes it's the same one that they use for Lite 95.7 Edmonton.

Say what? rf is right. John Tesh from Ten to Two middays. How original is that?

What's next? The non-repeat work day where they gasp don't play the same song twice from Nine to Four? I'm sure it's coming. Put my finger down my throat
