Out of the blue mystery regarding Saskatoon CBC

In the middle of this week, CBC Saskatchewan announced that its long-promoted CBC Radio morning show-Saskatoon Morning-scheduled to begin Monday April 29. will not be airing on the Mothercorp's appointed FM spot but will instead only be streamed online.
TIIC at CBC insist they don't know what's behind this very late in the game development and the CRTC is pretty much playing from that same book. Not sure when the Saskatoon crew found out about this but to those of us not in the game this was one of those news pieces that made us believe there is Much Much More to this than we know.

Might be the same as the circumstances in Kitchener-Waterloo where the current Saskatoon license doesn't allow for a local morning show and that the FM service in Saskatoon is to be nothing more than a repeater of 540 AM. http://www.therecord.com/news/local/art ... ast-foulup

I think they just assumed that these license amendments would be awarded by now. (The Kitchener situation was resolved today.)

A local morning show for Saskatoon and area does make sense, but nobody I know or have media related dealings with is losing sleep because we don't have one yet. Most would be quite happy though
if there was some advertising allowed on CBC Radio. They'd love to spend their advertising dollars somewhere that their ads might actually be heard.

That would be another thread for another day.
