Corus received CRTC approval today to flip 4 AM stations in Quebec to FM.
CJRC 1150 Gatineau to 104.7 with 2,900 watts.
CKRS 590 Saguenay to 98.3 with 51,000 watts.
CHLT 630 Sherbrooke to 102.1 with 58,000 watts.
CHLN 550 Trois Rivieres to 106.9 with 60,000 watts.
All stations will retain their existing French language News-Talk formats and are expected to be on their new frequencies in Spring/07.

Corus also pulled the plug on the only commercial English language station in the province outside of the Montreal area. CKTS 900 in Sherbrooke went dark last weekend. High costs associated with maintaining the operation was cited as the main reason. The station had been simulcasting CJAD 800 in Montreal for the past 14 years.

CKTS used to be a thriving English-language station for many years...I won't go any further....except to say...it wasn't Corus owned in those many years.
