Let the spin doctoring begin! "While we dropped in the cume we managed to turn things around in the key 18-25 Male demos between 2-6am", or "check out our market domination among left-handed midgets during the supper hour", or "look at the gains we made when it comes to the 25-34 age bracket during the 10 o'clock hour!"

Isn't there a way these "people meters" can be rigged to record the number of people listening to MP3s and iPods? Coz IMHO the MP3s would register higher than even Sonic-FM (good book BTW, that new format really seems to be sticking!)

Yes, it looks like the mythical 104.9 jinx is carrying on. I don't think any of the previous incarnations on 104.9 (XFM, Clear FM, Fun FM) ever bottomed out with a 1.8 though.

QM's jump can be attributed to Christmas music.

Yes, switching to Sonic was a smart move!
Big brains in Toronto and on Ash.
I also see the trend continuing with the former number one station being driven into the ditch.

Idiots at CFUN deserve what they get. QM stuck to their knitting, and deserve nice bounce.

Jack is fading....CISL oops.

Gosh, how long before big changes at CKNW?

This may be the first time NW has been in third since the book started just under half a century ago.

The fall into the pack led by those no-talent middle management monkeys has been like death by a thousand paper cuts. Boy wonder TP and his little sidekick might be eyeing each other to see who gets pushed off the Tower first, and who survives with the wreckage.

This will be fun to watch from a distance.

BTW... it's nice to see some consistency by the Peak. It looks like they are playing the long game.

Something else just struck out at me looking at the numbers.

For all you guys who continually rant & rave about how the AM band is dead in Canada I would like to point out that 4 of the positions in the top 10 are held by AM stations. Definitely far from being dead in Vancouver.

How long will Rogers keep Sonic on life support? If they were smart, they'd euthenize the god damned thing before sundown today and bring back the oldies on FUN FM. Maybe even do something really
brave like use the C-FUN call letters this time arouund. No need for an autopsy on Sonic, it was a still birth. If Astral is planning on switching The Shore to Boom FM, you can beat themto the punch.

There's nothing to celebrate at the Black Tower today either. CKNW falls to #3. With what they offer on the air, there will be no reversing the trend. Look at poor CFOX, it's beaten by four AMs and
even CBC Radio 2. CFMI is in need of a retro fitting too.

With the combination of Doug Rutherford leaving Corus plus this failure of a report card, it's time for a bloodbath at the Tower.

Even without the Christmas bump, QM-FM was destined to stomp NW, as was CBC.

I don't care to go back and look, but hasn't CISL been dropping since they started adding talk at various times in the day?

Oldies was at least sort of working.

Vancouver's CBCR2 numbers continue to impress me. And it's not just the 75+'ers listening to the remaining classical programming.

If/when Shore flips and Peak moves to 102.7, Peak will have a real chance to grow significantly and, along with R2, make Vancouver a AAA success story.

I actually really like Sonic. It is easier to listen to then The Beat at anytime of the day. Music > Kid Carson.

...and in Calgary, 'QR77 is now #1 overall... the only station in double-digits... as I said elsewhere, ratings ebb and flow like the tide... anyone who thinks this somehow will trigger big
changes will be disappointed...
