Wow, how much lower can all-sports radio go, even if the 1040 numbers are up a little? These numbers are probably within the margin for error for zero :)

Good on the CBC for #1. No data for Pulse FM or Roundhouse? I know I recorded Pulse in my survey!

I wonder if Roundhouse subscribes to the service.

1040 is a joke.

I feel sad to see an old home frequency of mine, languishing in the basement.

Doesn't surprise me when you see how much of a joke 1040 is. A morning show and midday show that repeatedly has the same inane features day after day (WTF, Memo To, Tell me I'm wrong and on and on and on). And then Pratt the buffoon in the morning who comes up with constant idiotic statements with the only more laughable instances being when he talks politics and you wonder how close his age is to his IQ level. Then the afternoon show has 3 guys!! hosting it. Tell me I'm wrong but is this station a huge joke or not.

Who cares about the ratings? I mean really. What does it matter? The major corporations are making lots of money with their groups of stations. Demo's are neatly divided up and everybody's happy. The product isn't as good as it was twenty years ago but what is? The music stations mostly exist on a hard drive that is the equivalent of an ATM for the owners.
There are so many alternatives to radio you have to give them credit for continuing to be able to make bank out of stone age technology.

Why pay Numeris to subscribe your corporation's many stations if you don't care about the Ratings they provide you with?

Well, the stations themselves care, as even small fluctuations can greatly impact billing, but beyond that they're pretty meaningless....especially the 2+, which mean nothing whatsoever.

Satellite radio has really made a dent in my radio listening habits. My household was part of the Vancouver PPM for this period. I carefully noted the satellite channels in my diary, as well as periods where I listened to Pandora streaming radio. I was actually phoned by Numeris after the diaries were submitted to ask just what Pandora was. I was also asked to explain what I meant by Pulse FM.

Subsequently Numeris sent me a long-form survey booklet that covers, in somewhat excruciating detail, all sorts of household habits and activities. Much too much work (at least an hour) for the $5 bill enclosed with it. Now three more of these have landed in our mail box. We won't be completing these. Numeris can come and pick these up if they want them back.

Right, diary. I'm unclear if the data is merged in with the PPM data.

kal - Don't waste your time filling out the long-form survey. It's just Numeris' way of mining a ton of info from you on your shopping habits etc. They expect you to spend time filling it all out for the measly $5 they send you. Any idea how much money they make selling your responses to different retailers and manufacturers?

Actually, it is worse than that. Last time I checked, after you fill out "the long form", you will be asked to fill out, on a very regular basis, an even longer form that is even less related to Radio.

I was sent a ballot in the past few months. After several phone calls from Numeris (usually from folks who didn't have a great grasp of the English language) in the week prior to and the week of filling out the ballot, I finally just shredded the damn thing and told the next caller I wouldn't be returning the ballot and please quit phoning.

Anytime any other research company calls, I now ask how much they will be paying me for my time and any information I give them that they are selling to some third party. Nobody has come up with any cash yet.

I've no time or patience to answer these calls these days. If the # on my home phone or cell phone is unrecognisable, I won't answer it. Despite the most ineffective CRTC no call list that I signed up for a few years back, call display has been an effective tool for many years now in screening out these calls for many a year.
