Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Maybe time for CFMI to become something other than so-called "classic rock" isn't it? Otherwise no surprises....NW #1 as usual

Methinks Team1040 will be relatively happy....and wait for the next survey for Team1410 to show something better.

I think only Lions games will boost 1410 rating a little, and sadly John I think it's as much about overhead as anything , as it is with AM 730. Two once proud top 40's.

So true, when CHUM got its hands on CFUN, it was the beginning of the end. And when Moffatt let LG go, then 730 was mere history too. Sad endings over time for many frequencies that held so much history of radio, period! I shed a tear or two when 600 went the way of the dodo bird recently.

I am not too sure what you guys are sad about? Should Top 40 still be on 1410 or 730 AM? There are top 40 station in Vancouver... There are as many top 40 stations now as there ever was, nothing has changed except the call letters, the artists name and pounds we add around our guts.

The kids are still punching up the local top 40 and 40 years from now, they wonder... "what happened to The Beat? those were the good ole days!"

Yeah Destro, but the music has changed.......CFUN and CKLG used to be personality-driven top 40 stations....now we have automatons (sp) with non-stop, wall to wall noise hat is supposed to resemble music.......maybe that sounds as though there's an oldie writing this, and you are absolutely correct. Radio used to do more than just play so-called music, radio entertained....and to me, it's no longer entertainment. I listen to radio for information today....and of course for sports entertainment, and I get that from so few stations....CKNW, CKWX, Team1040, Team1410 and that's the ball game!

Anyone who tells me rap is music is an idiot in my book!

You know what's really ironic about your statement John is when I was a kid listening to CFUN & CKLG my parents considered them to be "wall to wall noise".

Yeah, I remember that too Dan, but at least the noise was interspersed with some entertaining comments by personalities!

ha... there is a statement. No Canadian top 40 station plays much "rap."

I'd agree that a bumping Oldies station could and should exist (when I pay off my Visa I might see about buying an AM transmitter on the internet and squatting on an abandoned freq). I DJ weekends at a hipster lounge in downtown Victoria and I punch up quite a bit of Mo town, soul and funk in my set and it gets a pretty magical response. No radio station plays these "hits." Maybe I'm not understanding oldies radio or I don't listen enough, but there could be a place for my classic music on the radio. The few times I punch up 650 AM, there is nothing going on... an infomercial or a Beatles brunch or something. There is so much more going on. I love playing a an oldies set, and the 50 year-olds come up asking me "what artists are you playing?" They grew up with the music and don't even know it all or know it, but can't place the artist because there is no one presenting it. my other favourite is "you weren't even born when this wa son the radio, how do you find it?" uhhh wikipedia helps. One guy came up to me on Saturday night and said, "you should have a radio show." good times. I do!
