It seems as if JOE ate some of K-97's pie, but at a big cost. They took a big loss switching from a Classic Hits format to a Rock format. A 3.3 share may bring some changes.

Besides JOE-FM, the other big surprise in this ratings period is The Bear.

Over the longer term, interesting how the swap in ratings numbers between Virgin and perennial winner The Bounce, coincides with Pat Cardinal's arrival at Astral. Now that he has The Bear whipped into shape, is Team 1260 next? Hard to expect much from an All Sports station in a hockey-mad city until well after the NHL Strike is over.

David Bray has this to say:

Edmonton: 102.3 NOW! Radio rules the roost for A12+ posting an 11.1% share of hours tuned (up from 10.1%). NOW! Radio also takes top spot for F25-54, delivering a 12.9% share (up from 11.3%). With a hat trick NOW! also tops the list for M25-54 with a 17.3% share (up from 15.5%). For M18-34, NOW! posted a 20.3% (up from 18.8%) followed by Sonic 102.9 with a 14.2% (down from 16.8%) share.

Whatever happened to the huge numbers (a share in the teens as I recall) that HOT 107 supposedly had when it was run by the Yerxa's? You might recall John's monthly newsletters were full of
how successful HOT 107 was blah blah blah. Then came the sudden back room sale to Harvard due to health issues. Culd the true lack of success for the station have been the real reason for the
sale?

Maybe Harvard should do a quick format flip to Classic Hits and outJOE JOE so 92.5 has no format to go back to when Corus realizes JOE is currently playing in the wrong ball park.
