Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

CKRA-FM (Capital-FM) in a tie with CHED: now there is a piece of history. And to think, it wasn't that long ago that CKRA was in a tie with UP.

Also interesting to see CKUA back in the ratings.

Nice improvement for CRUZ. Although technically not their best under the new format, their previous record was strongly influenced by All Christmas formatting during the beginning of the period.

From Marty Forbes' Edmonton Sun column:
...the Numeris PPM ratings are in for the last quarter — usually referred to as the “Spring Bible.” There are hundreds of ways to slice and dice ratings and many stations are happy with their ‘rankings’ in the book — however, the equalizer is the “most hours tuned” in the market Age 2 and up — and the winners are:

NOW Radio 12.0 share remains at the top of the heap followed by CBX (Radio One) at 10.2. There’s a tie for third overall with Capital FM and CHED both tracking in at 8.2 shares.

Country stations rank fifth and sixth with CISN at a 6.9 and CFCW (soon to be moving to 840 on AM) a 5.4 share.

Rock stations The Bear and K97 are also tied at a 5.3 each while UP and The Bounce are also tied at 4.8. Fresh FM follows at 4.6 and Sonic at 4.4.

Virgin is a 3.3; Hot 107 a 2.9; TSN 1260 is up to a 2.8 share; CRUZ 95.7 improved to a 2.8 as well and CKUA is back in the ratings race with a 2.0 share (although the station is Provincial in scope with transmitters around the Province); CBX (Rado 2) is a 1.1 and the all-news AM station i880 News is just an .08 share in the market.

How did your favourite station do? Most radio and television station personnel take a fair amount of time off over the summer months to catch up on holidays and the next big PPM ratings quarter happens in the Fall. Ratings help stations with advertising rates and of course ‘format changes and adjustments’ to remain competitive in the Edmonton market. The PPM is an electronic device that listeners use to ‘automatically’ track their favorite radio stations and television programs.
