Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

This is now the first full ratings period for UP 99.3. And, as mentioned last month, Easy Rock is still riding their 2 SHARE increase from Christmas, since the current ratings period includes December when they were playing all Christmas music. Two months from now, they may well be fighting it out with CFCW-AM for #10.

NOW-FM is now hitting the one year mark, seemingly past the point where "the New Factor" is gone, as it was for Jack-FM stations that enjoyed almost a 20 SHARE when they first signed on, but dropped to normal levels soon after.

It will be interesting to see what Rogers does with The Bounce, to try and get it out of the CTV/CHUM doldrums that set in the moment that James Stuart moved to Vancouver.

Is there any hope for Harvard's The Sound and its AAA format? To put it in perspective, as to just how bad it is, Rawlco had long written off Magic 99 with ratings double those of Harvard!

What a difference a day makes!!!

Now the really big question is: what will the Edmonton PPMs look like in 3 months when we see the full impact of all the die-hard Easy Rock listeners finding new radio stations to listen to? Who will be the big gainers?

Assuming, of course, that we don't see a new entrant into the market niche that Easy Rock enjoyed. I hate to call it Adult Contemporary (AC) because Easy Rock has played a lot of other stuff beginning when Standard Radio bought the station.

I know there is a lot of talk about Rogers turning The Bounce into LITE 91.7, but K-LITE would be a much better choice in naming given the heritage of the station in Edmonton. Not to mention the fact that, by the time Standard took over Easy Rock, their primary music genre was the hits that K-LITE played in their first 5 years on the air in the early 1980s. And much of that material survived as the backbone of the Easy Rock music library until early this afternoon.
