CKRY looks as strong as ever. I think it's time for some competition to ride into town and kick some butt! It's been mentioned before and to my eyes the time looks right for Pattison
to flip KOOL to Country the day the take control.

QR is losing a share a year. Would be intersting to see the full book and see what their strong demo is. I'd say 60+ . How much of this fall's drop is a result of the flood boo boo, or how
much did Rutherford's departure hurt? Has the Rutherford replacement performed as hoped?

I guess Joanne and Wheezy at XL are still happy to be bopping along and beating their old home.

Like most markets, lots of stations but nothing that really jumps out at you.

Agreed. The market has, pretty much, been sorted out.
Country-105 will be enjoying the free hay-ride what with the classic country crowd having nowhere else to go.
Rogers' news outlet doesn't have the horses to sustain the flood-bump.
'XL has maxed out. This is unfortunate as the opportunity to crush the market is still theirs.
Rawlco needs to spend a 10-minute misconduct in the box and feel shame. With those resources, there are no excuses for them to be sucking hind teat at "UP".
Did "Jack" have a few friends with PPM's or did they earn back those numbers....?

Finally, some brilliant thought and truly major effort in Calgary broadcasting. In a bold move to regain their once lofty standing . . . & according to the promos mixed in with astonishingly mundane Christmas tunes, LITE95.9 is changing their brand to KISS959 on Boxing Day. FWIW - same music, same announcers.

Well, that news about a re-branding of Lite Daze-959 is, like, a blow-minder.
Why, I wonder, do they even go through the motions...? (That was an actual question.)
WHY!? :orclown:

It must be some kind of clever Christmas riddle with no possible answer.

So, this will be the fourth kick at the cat for the KISS name in Calgary.

1140 CISS AM, Rawlco's KISS 96.9 and then Rogers re-invention for Hip Hop 96.9 KISS FM.

Brilliant.

Holy crapola, Rocky! That's right!
Is this not yet but another example of the grinding lack of imagination on the part of contemporary radio's management...?
Many will remember when Los Angeles outfit, KISS-FM was running Rick Dees and "The Morning Zoo" - another moniker that was ripped off and spread like an insidious viral contagion all over the planet.
Meanwhile, to whom do we send the sympathy cards - and a link to Milkman Unlimited...?

Not discounting the ignorance of the market history and lack of originality, but "Lite" was worse and had become (more) meaningless as of late.

The use, in Canada, of EZ Rock, requiring an American pronunciation of "Zee" instead of "Zed", always bugged me. But I guess it is no worse than the near universal use of K-something for all the commercial FM stations here in Edmonton back around 1990: K-97, K-Lite, King, The Key, Kissin' Country. K, of course, is the first letter of U.S. call letters West of the Mississippi.

Interesting, though, how the "Virgin" label/brand got, pretty much, a free pass.
So, I'm curious - not having been in the market for a few years. Did "Q" and C-JAY just run out of gas...?

Or as it used to be said in the industry: "Lite" Rock sucks c**k."
"Lite Rock" is an oxymoron.
If it rocks, it isn't light.
