When I worked at a Light Rock Less Talk station, one of the favorite liners we'd sneak in every now and then was "Get Your Rock Soft on FM 97".

Looks like Bell forgot an entire Calgary station in their day part review. Punchlines welcomed!

That's Funny. :carrot:
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Given that Calgary is not particularly different from any other market - in general terms - it isn't much of a stretch to conclude: There is no competition in radio! The scenario is made up of no more than a bunch of very like-minded organizations fumbling and phusterclucking along year after year with the vague hope of accidentally falling into pails of insight and/or cash, and a definite desire that the competition will, somehow, take a hit from a meteor. :partyguy:

I figured that much-discussed NEWS-TALK-CONVERSATION-SPORTS-AM-770-CHQR would at least rate a footnote. In retrospect, and judging by their dearth of national advertising, I may have overestimated their importance in the race.

I agree with isthisthingon. A conversation about those portions of a broadcaster's approach-decisions are certainly worthy of numerous re-runs.
The thing is, very few of us are expecting any serious adjustments/changes in either philosophy or behaviours to kick in anytime soon. Not least, from the people who need to be the ones making those changes.

Meanwhile, a whole point - maybe two - in the ratings, while significant to national buys certainly, is hardly anything to get worked up about. Unless, of course, there are parties and/or bonuses being provided.

In a bold move to regain their once lofty standing . . . & according to the promos mixed in with astonishingly mundane Christmas tunes, LITE95.9 is changing their brand to KISS959 on Boxing Day. FWIW - same music, same announcers.

This is becoming reality now... if you try going to http://lite959.ca, it will automatically redirect you to http://kiss959.com
