Norm N. Nite Gets a Web Site

Postby jon » Sat Dec 17, 2011 6:14 pm

Norm N. Nite was a well known DJ at WHK and WGAR in Cleveland, before spending 25 years in New York radio, and currently does a twice weekly show on Sirius/XM 50s on 5, live from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. He announced on air today that he finally has his own web site: http://www.normnnite.com.

He is just starting, but it is quite interesting if you are interested in '50s music. His Career Highlights page is especially impressive, in terms of what he has accomplished. From Rock documentaries to "'RockCom', the first commercially available electronic database of popular music (1985)".

It is probably just semantics, but his description of "Rockcom" should have read "the first affordable commercially available..." as there was a Canadian company in 1983 that already had one for sale. But they charged by the "song", so to speak. I did an exhaustive search at the time for CKUA, as a way to eliminate most of the work involved in converting their mammoth record library's card catalogue to a electronic database. It ended up being cheaper to key all the cards in by hand than pay the arm and a leg the Canadian company wanted.
