In case you missed it, Pat St. John announced on his show today (Sirius/XM 60s on 6) that it was exactly 50 years ago today that he worked his first air shift, on an FM station in Southfield, a suburb of Detroit. WSHJ-FM was only 10 watts, but got The Who to appear at the station's high school for a concert with 3,000 tickets sold.
The next year, 1969, he was on The Big 8, CKLW, and worked a couple more Detroit stations before moving to New York City.
Just a few years back, he moved to San Diego, to be with his daugther's family, leaving his gig at WCBS-FM, but getting a studio built in his barn to continue his live daily show on Sirius/XM 60s on 6.
