Dr. Demento Salutes Robert O. Smith

Postby jon » Fri Jun 11, 2010 7:56 pm

Hi folks...I was shocked and sad to hear of Robert O's passing. It was a great privilege for me to know him, if only a bit.

There'll be a tribute to him on the Dr. Demento show which will be posted June 19 at http://www.drdemento.com. (We're internet only these days, that's the way things go). I'm playing "Sinister Lunchmeat" and "Walter Wart"...and then four more tracks including "Lenny Frog" during the "bonus tracks" at the end of the show.

I feel like I'm in one of those old movies where those who have passed away make subtle changes to the environments of those still living who knew them.

I just opened up a package of printing from an Internet order at Staples, and found someone else's, too. Another "jon" who works for "Ribbit Productions" here in Edmonton. Robert O. and I used to share stories of "strange coincidences" that had occurred recently. Now it sounds like he is orchestrating them. While whistling his hits "Walter Wart" or "Lenny Frog".
