Cat Stevens-related Song Trivia #3

Postby jon » Sat Aug 20, 2011 1:21 pm

I'm not sure Cat's version was a hit anywhere, but Cat Stevens had a very early single release of the song I'm asking about. He wrote it, and a Black L.A. girl had a big hit of it in England years before a Canadian DJ recorded it and make it a CanCon staple.

Name that tune! And the other singers I'm referring to.

Absolutely correct! Congratulations!

Here is what I believe is the original single version, performed, presumably lip-synced, by P.P. when the song was a hit in the U.K.:

Keith Hampshire. A and M records. Can Con hit. My favorite Keith was "Big Time Operator" - I smile and think how lucky I was to get to be on the air.
Yeah, I miss it.
