Newspapers were a huge part of the beginning of Radio in this country. In 1922, some of the first and most powerful radio stations were owned and run by newspapers. CJCA in Edmonton is a good example, owned and operated by the Edmonton Journal.
These newspaper-owned stations are well documented. In their own newspapers, of course.
Yet, no one at the Nanaimo Daily News seems to know this. Lead line in a Friday article reads "The Nanaimo Daily News has become the first newspaper in the industry to introduce its own radio service."
