Google News story from the Province....

ELECTROCUTED DOG: Mastiff shocked after stepping on wet metal cover in ...
The Province - ‎15 hours ago‎

Josh Brown watches as Karyn Lauridsen adjusts a protective boot on the paw of Abby, a South African mastiff, before an evening walk Thursday.

What's wrong here?

This is a common error and a good example an often misused term. We've all heard someone say at some point or another that they were 'electrocuted' when in fact they meant they were shocked. Many people make this error all the time not realizing it is not the correct term.

Electrocution is death caused by electric shock, either accidental or deliberate. The word is derived from "electro" and "execution", but it is also used for accidental death.

I’ve come to not expect much from the print media these days.

I'll give you another classic example of poor work on the part of the Province.

Tuesday, Feb. 5 - Page A25 - Headline - Authorities storm bunker, rescue five-year-old boy

The report speaks about an increasingly agitated Jimmy Lee Dykes....the surname is repeated throughout the report.

There's also a photograph....with a description....Officers station themselves near the property of Jimmy Lee Sykes on Monday etc.

All I ask is - Who is the dummy who checked this story out before approving for printing? I, personally, resent my surname from being included erroneously in this story.

Edmonton is moaning it only has one newspaper in the morning......I wished we only had one...The Sun...in B.C.

Yes Mr. Sykes - they did it just to piss you off.

If there was no Province, where would we be able to get your insightful comments on local and world affairs?

Why don't you consider taking a course such as the Power Of Positive Thinking, rather than being such a jerk....unless your most recent comment was simply tongue in cheek, which I seriously doubt.

And if one wants to make predictions....I can't wait to read Michael Smyth's column, oh, maybe about a month after the NDP takes over as government in B.C. Do you really think he can wind up Mr. Personality like he has with the Libs?

Methinks Dan, there is a major difference between the federal NDP and the B.C. provincial crew....same as the libs.

I was quite surprised this morning, to see the Prov's Michael Smyth taking a shot at Dix....signs of things to come. I thought Smyth would wait until Dix took office.

From the Department of Redundancy Department:

A PST promise that won't be kept
Vancouver Sun - ‎10 hours ago‎

It doesn't take a soothsayer to predict there will be mass confusion over what should be changing on April 1 as B.C. reverts back to the PST from the HST.

"reverts back"

Moron!
