Just yesterday morning I tuned in on line to a station in eastern canada....which I did EVERY week .
to hear The Seventies with Charlie Tuna.
idn't realize he'd passed aeay nine days ago.
Surprised they didn't cancel the syndication satellite feed but I guess Charlie would hVe wanted it that way...
the show must go on (awrsome jinglesBTE)
will really miss his CLEAN humor in my Facebook feed..

Guess 'the 70s' had a different meaning for him.
Didn't realuze he was 71!

Just read in Ron Jacobs' book that Charlie Tuna is the answer to the Boss Radio Trivia Question: Who replaced both Robert W. Morgan and The Real Don Steele, at the same time, doing both Mornings and Afternoon Drive on KHJ?

In the late 1960s, Morgan and Steele "went on strike" when they didn't get the raise they asked for, and Charlie was asked to do both their shows. And did so for several months, long enough for the ratings to come out, and the fear of a huge plunge in AM and PM Drive numbers to prove unfounded.

A great career. And, by all accounts I've seen, a great human being.

From Coast 101.1 St. John's comes this news about Charlie Tuna:

The Best of Charlie Tuna, The 70's will start this weekend on The Coast! We'll miss Charlie's unique look at entertainment each week, but some of the most popular parts of the show are the archived moments from Charlie's long career.

We are thrilled that Charlie's production company will continue to produce "The 70's" each week.

Listen Saturday's at 7pm and Sunday's at Noon.

I always loved the credits at the end when Charlie had his own insider running joke:

"AN ART FURGUSON PRODUCTION".

Wonderful video tribute to Charlie Tuna:

(In case you are wondering what an aged Charlie Van Dyke voiceover sounds like in 2016...)
