Worked in radio, then became Dick Clark's announcer on American Bandstand. And here's a clip of him doing the news on LA's KCOP.

Charlie was also a great L.A. area DJ. Reelradio has an aircheck of him on KRLA Pasadena, where Casey Kasem made his mark just before American Top 40. And a KGBS Los Angeles aircheck of mine, also on Reelradio, makes mention of Charlie doing Morning Drive on the station in early 1969.
