Twitter - a waste of time and bandwidth?

Twitter - a waste of time and bandwidth?

Postby hagopian » Mon Apr 01, 2013 1:31 pm

I had built my Twitter line to nearly 73,000 and I just buried it.

Why?

So much potty mouth, misogynists, Justin Bieber, Rhianna, Gaga, and other assorted stuff....I finally realized it was a time sink.

Love to get your feelings on Twitter. Think it is a great way to say talk about your Radio station - but it takes so many hours to patrol, that people using gutter language can kill ya.

Then you have Twitter making rules on "churning" - following and then dumping inappropriate stuff.

Well - I learned a valuable lesson. Life's to short to waste it tweeting.

Thoughts?

Sorry grandpa, but it's those potty mouthed kids that made social media what it is today.
Let them have their thing and you can go back to the Charleston.

Uh, I am not sure why you want to take a shot at me - I am probably younger than you are dude.
I just asked thoughts - you didn't have to get personal. Not that I give a damn.
That was rather nasty.

Gee, I bet you are a joy to be around.

Funny you felt the need to respond anyway.
I apologize if I offended your overly delicate sensibilities.

You couldn't handle the language so you decided to get out. That's your prerogative. You and Mr. Sykes should compare notes on foul language over an ice tea.
However, you're the one that decided to let the world know about it and ask for thoughts.

My comment on social media (look back, there actually was one), still stands.

The first four leters of the word Twitter describe the people who make it a major part of their life.

The mid day jock at XL 103 in Calgary is a prime example of a twitterholic. All he talks about is tweeting this and tweeting that along with his other technological BS. The poor bastard knows nothing
of the music he is playing and does not relate to his audience in any way.

Tweeting is for the birds. I still send emails.

Facebook is a lot of fun - good place to share info

Twitter is for twits - I do have an account for business but only to gain access to some media types

Older? In human years you're older than Sykes. In dog years you're older than dirt!

I find Twitter kind of useless. Perhaps I just don't know how to use it properly, but I have never been able to figure out what the purpose is of running "earth shattering" headlines and not providing a link to follow up on the story. 9 out of 10 times I have to dig around on Google News or Yahoo News to find out the details of those one sentence stories on Twitter. Why even bother?

Now kittie you know John is a tad older than the top dog around here. But I admit to loving dirt!

Dan: you have to learn to leave a link on your tweet you twit - lol :groovy:
