Chem Trails warning in Penticton

Chem Trails warning in Penticton

Postby Russ_Byth » Tue Jul 16, 2013 7:18 pm

From Global Okanagan:

PENTICTON — The City of Penticton has complained to the RCMP after fake, official looking notices were posted around the city warning people of chem trail poisoning.

The leaflet on official city letterhead is signed by “Susan Smith”, a non-existent manager of the Environment Department which also doesn’t exist.

It asks people to email the premier if they see so called chem trails in the sky.

Some people believe the high altitude trails behind aircraft are chemicals being dropped by unknown agencies. Most people believe they are simply water vapour trails from jet engines.

A city spokesperson says they are getting many phone calls and emails regarding the fraudulent notice that is alarming some residents.

He says they’re not happy about the city’s image being used in a fraudulent manner.

Can a story really be 'broken' if no one knows about it?

Oliver Daily News likely scooped it from a Chem-Trail website that is disguised as a radio site!

Isn't that what news is?

The letters have been showing up in Kelowna too. (Probably blown in with the wind)

Are tin foil sales up at Dollar Tree stores in the Okanagan this week?

He begged me to go myself to break the news to her.

All humor aside - Castanet credited ODN for a photograph of the false letter. Other media waited for a release from City of Penticton
before "breaking" it themselves.

why didn't you post it here as it is such a topic of discussion?

would also give it a bit more credence to your claim of breaking news rather than saying, oh it was breaking news.

Think you 'your bra is on too tight' with regard to your (former tv guy) understanding who broke what. As to claims and beliefs - I did break the story. No argument from anyone.

I run a business...the news business. The item was a local item.

I do not post Oliver news items on Radio West - and chem trails is NOT a topic for much discussion here - thank the lord fan

My guess (based on some of your odd posts) is you're just another plant from elsewhere - where stories about censorship in the Okanagan will soon be posted.

Hi Everyone,
Interesting local news story up in the Penticton area. Kind of funny too! But for the folks at Penticton City Hall not too humorous at all. I have cousins that live in the Summerland and Penticton area so Its good to hear some local news from that area. Thanks very much Jack for posting this!

I am curious about your opinion of something Jack. You now work for the local newspaper in Oliver. I knw you worked for many years in radio in the Vancouver area. Having worked in radio for many years and in recent years for the local newspaper. Do you find working for a local newspaper more interesting and fulfilling than the years you worked in radio. I know another former radio broadcaster George Elliot runs the local paper in Princeton and does an excellent job of it too. I was going to ask him the same question.

Anyway interesting summer story, thanks again for mentioning it!

Take care everyone, hope you are having a nice safe summer!

Not surprisingly, it did not appear there until earlier today. The real surprise was that they ran it at all given how negative to the cause it is.

Hi Eldon - I own Oliver Daily News - it's a blog - no newsprint :towel: not much news - check it out at http://www.oliverdailynews.com

I keep, the Herald and Western in Penticton on their toes. The local newspaper "da chrinkle" is published once a week - about nine days after most of the news happens.

Greetings,
Thanks for the info. Jack. I will check it out. I did not realize you owned it and it was not a local weekly or daily printed paper, appreciate you letting me know that! All the best with the reporting there!
