In 1968, CHUM-FM Toronto increased power to 100,000 watts from a new 90 foot tower on top of the Manufacturers' Life building. The station had just switched to an Underground format on July 1st.

Also in 1968, CFCN-TV Calgary signed on its repeater in Lethbridge on Channel 13. It shared CJLH-TV's tower, a novel approach in those days.

In 1969, CHAB-TV Moose Jaw and CHRE-TV Regina became CBKMT-TV and CBKRT-TV, marking the forced sale of both stations by Moffat Broadcasting to the CBC. CBKMT immediately became a rebroadcaster of CBKRT. On July 31, 1978, the call letters changed again to CBKT Regina and CBKT-1 Moose Jaw.

In 1985, CKWA-AM Slave Lake, Alberta, was granted a license by the CRTC. The station was owned by CFOK-AM Westlock, and all programming except 7-11 a.m. Monday-Saturday was simulcast from CFOK. CKWA was assigned 1210 KHz with 1000 watts. 1210 KHz had been a U.S. 1-A clear channel, occupied solely by WCAU Philadelphia.

In 2001, Bill Good Jr. began as anchor of CTV News at Six on CIVT-TV Vancouver. Pamela Martin joined him on October 18th. Both had previously been popular News anchors on former CTV affiliate CHAN-TV Vancouver.

In 2003, CJPG-FM Portage La Prairie was approved as a new FM station for Golden West. It signed on May 4, 2004, at 7:15 a.m. with 24,000 watts on 96.5 MHz. The station's transmitter shared a tower with Golden West's CFRY-1-FM.

In 2004, the CRTC approved the sale of Mel Cooper's Seacoast Communications, owners of CFAX-AM and CHBE-FM Victoria, to CHUM. Ownership changed on October 1st. Mel had originally purchased CFAX in September 1974, founded Seacost Sound in 1979, bought CKOV-AM and CKLZ-FM Kelowna in 1988, sold them to Jim Pattison in 1996, and obtained a Victoria FM license in 1999. Prior to CFAX, he had risen in the ranks of CKNW, beginning as National Sales Manager in 1955. Mel's CCF bio is at http://broadcasting-history.ca/personalities/cooper-mel
