In 1977, CBRT-6 Lethbridge signed on, as a repeater of CBRT-TV Calgary. CBRT itself had only signed on in 1974. Previously, the CBC had served Calgary through a private affiliate, CFAC-TV.

In 2004, the only known attempt at a Jack-FM format on AM ended in Edmonton as JOE-AM was put to death on CHQT Edmonton after two and a half months. And reborn as JOE-FM on CKNG-FM, replacing a lanquishing Power 92.5 format that had a name-only relationship to the very successful Power 92 CHR format of just seven months prior. Teenagers actually wept when Power 92 disappeared. CHQT, meanwhile, returned to its Cool 8-80 format.
