In 1964, CBZ Fredericton, New Brunswick, signed on from studios atop a downtown paint store. New studios came in 1967. The station began on 1480 KHz with 10,000 watts, but moved to 970 KHz in 1965.

Before switching to FM in 2004, CBZ had the double honour of having the catchiest slogan in Canadian Radio. And the most baffling to Americans who read it on paper.

"You're ahead with CBZ."

On April 15, 2004, CBZ-AM became CBZF-FM, with 3200 watts on 99.5 MHz. Despite the relatively low power, because the FM was non-directional, it actually provided better coverage than the AM's night pattern.
