In 2000, CHET-TV Chetwynd (B.C.) was officially launched by Governor General Adrienne Clarkson. Although a former broadcaster herself, she merely cut the ribbon to open the station's studios. Normal broadcasting did not get underway until August. CHET-TV had originally been licensed on September 24, 1997, with 100 watts on Channel 55, with a 5 watt rebroadcaster on Channel 33 in Hasler Flats.
