Actually the CIBC calls were already in use during the mid to late 80's in Prince George, B.C. on 94.3 FM (now CIRX - 94X). I imagine they stood for Central Interior Broadcasting Company back then. Now they will likely stand for Cowessess Indian Band Corporation or something similar.

So what happens now to CIRI-FM 106.5? Obviously they are going to have to be bumped somewhere else on the dial again just like they did in 2008 due to the launch of CIGY at 97.7 (CIRI was at 97.5 then), but where to now?

CIRI is classed as a low-power unprotected FM service, so they will have no choice but to relocate. Maybe to 100.3 until someone else comes along and re-applies for another station there. Perhaps CIRI should just be done with it and move the station to AM instead of continually getting bumped around on FM. 50 or 100 watts at the bottom end of the AM band should cover the city quite decently.
