Oh wow. I was almost certain that this was completely dead in the water by now. So does anyone know if these guys have secured any land yet? I would have thought that that would have needed to be arranged as a condition of license, no? How do they get the technical blessing by IC if they don't know where the towers are going to be?

CKNF.....the way I read the situation is Touch Canada had purchased land south of Black Diamond in the Municipal District of Foothills to construct the transmitter site with assurances from the Municipal Council that the plans would be approved. However there was such a stink raised by residents from nearby properties that the Municipal Council rejected the plans in the end. However, it appears as if they are working with Touch Canada to find an alternate site.

Scroll down to Item #1 in Appendix 2 on this page and open up the underlined "2012-0178-0" link:
http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2012/2012-400.htm
All the files within will provide you with some interesting reading, especially the file at the top of the list: DM#1674086 (Microsoft Office Word 97 - 3,659 KB).

The timing of the deadline isn't great either. Good luck trying to get radials into frozen ground. They will be contending with mud or snow leading up to the deadline unless they get to work on the land this fall.

I would also like to point out that this all went down back on March 5th, but it did not appear on the CRTC site until July 24th. So who knows if there has been any progress finding a suitable site for the transmitter & towers during the past 5 months?
