If the above applications for Ottawa and Gatineau are giving you a case of déjà vu, let me explain.
In August 2008 the CRTC granted licenses for the Astral application on 99.7 and the Frank Torres
application on 101.9. However later in the year the Federal Government intervened after receiving
complaints from several minority groups in the Ottawa area and ordered the CRTC to review those
decisions and reschedule a new hearing keeping those minority group interests in mind. The players
are all the same as last year with the exception of Christian Hit Radio who decided not to proceed
with their original application for a Christian Talk station on 99.7.
