As the title track of Loverboy’s fourth studio album, Lovin’ Every Minute Of It proved to be the Vancouver band’s biggest US hit, peaking at #9 on Billboard. The album’s followup single, This Could Be The Night, peaked at #10.
What’s truly interesting is that Robert “Mutt” Lange wrote Lovin’ Every Minute Of It. Yet, despite his formidable production resume, he did not produce the Loverboy sessions. That fell to Tom Allom, a Brit knob turner who weirdly graduated from overseeing albums for progressive-folk band The Strawbs to the headbanging heights with Judas Priest. In between, he worked with Canadian guitar-slinger Pat Travers.
The first three Loverboy albums were produced by fellow Vancouverite Bruce Fairbairn (RIP). Whether it was Bruce’s busy schedule (he was set to mastermind blockbuster albums for Aerosmith and Bon Jovi) or simply desiring a change of pace, Loverboy never regretted their brief linkup with Mr. Allom.
