Today's Can-Con 45 is from 1971 .. a huge hit for The Five Man Electrical Band ... "Signs" (from the US single with the long intro!)

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Always kick myself that I never saved up Coke bottle cap liners to get the soft drink maker's promotional album featuring one side by The Guess Who and the other by Five Man Electrical Band. Wonder if the Five Man sessions were also overseen by then-ad executive Jack Richardson? He, of course, went on to mortgage his house to produce an entire Guess Who album in New York (Wheatfield Soul) which spawned their first mega-hit These Eyes. Formerly known as The Staccatos, FMEB took a little longer to catch on Stateside, but persevered to enjoy a string of 45 successes. Five Man leader Les Emmerson also charted a solo outing called You've Got Control Of Me. Great band.
