Got to hand it to Ian. For a novice who nonetheless managed to enter the US Top 40 by imitating Neil Young (Painted Ladies), he developed his own style, scoring hits in Canada that were then covered internationally by acts such as America, Santana and Manfred Mann.
The sibling of SCTV comic Dave Thomas (whose MacKenzie Brothers act with Rick Moranis broke big), Ian is launching an interesting comeback: He's formed a touring group with Murray McLauchlan, Marc Jordan and Cindy Church. Presumably the members will perform their best known tunes.
