Today's Can-Con 45 is from 1972 ... A biggie for Lighthouse ... "Sunny Days" ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Lighthouse drummer Skip Prokop wrote this song and sang it, too, when lead vocalist Bob McBride missed the session. Ever generous, Skip often maintained that Sunny Days might have been an even bigger hit if Bob hadn't been a no-show. If you listen closely, it does sound like McBride was on hand to deliver some punchy harmony to the final mix.

Drug issues led McBride to leave the band shortly afterwards. (He did various reunion gigs before passing away some years ago.) Skip is still alive and hopefully we'll. So is fellow co-founder Paul Hoffert who helped design a "wired" techno subdivision near Newmarket years before such projects became common.

A glorious band that made glorious sounds.
