Today's Can-Con 45 is from late 1973 ... It's Crowbar's first release on Epic .. "Million Dollar Weekend" ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Crowbar always put on a hell of a show. Keyboardist and singer Kelly Jay Fordham was a big bruiser, massive enough to carry one or even two of the diminutive Crowbar guitarists on his shoulders.

I never saw Crowbar when they began around 1970 with King Biscuit Boy (the late Richard Newell) on lead vocals and superb harmonica. As I recall, most members were--like The Band--alumni of the Ronnie Hawkins Band. A tough boss, Hawkins sure knew how to spot promising young 'uns and whip 'me into musical shape.
