Today's Can-Con 45 is from 1977 ... Mary Saxton and "Georgia Eyes" ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Great song that I have not heard in decades. Who was Mary Saxton? What is she up to musically, these days? Whatever happened to Mustard Records?

I'm guessing Ms Saxton was probably from Edmonton as Gerry Dere was part of Barry Allen's orbit. Perhaps someone out there can sketch in the details.

We played this song quite a bit back in 1977 on 580 CKPR in Thunder Bay. When it was charting it made our "top ten at ten" most requested songs ten or twelve times during my evening air shift. Haven't heard this song in over 30 years.

Talk about coincidences!

In my first November comment on Georgia Eyes, I wondered what became of Mary Saxton. Turns out she’s been a backup vocalist for Susan Jacks in recent years.

Wish I had the technical savvy to post a link, but check out Susan’s assorted Facebook pages. Despite her health challenges, Susan has recorded a terrific Christmas song featuring Mary Saxton and respected veteran guitarist David Sinclair. It’s beautiful yet haunting...approaching the level Johnny Cash achieved with Rick Rubin.

Merry Christmas Mary Saxton, Susan and David.
