Today's Can-Con 45 is from 1970 ... From Montreal, it's Freedom North and "Dr. Tom" ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

This must be one of the very first recordings issued by Aquarius Records.

Based in Montreal, the boutique label was owned by, among others, Don Tarlton (aka concert promoter Donald K Donald) and Terry Flood. I think Flood also managed April Wine, the label’s biggest act until Corey Hart.

Love the fuzz guitar on this Freedom North song. Did it get some turntable action in Western Canada? Didn’t recognize any of the members of Freedom North. According to the Popsikes site, the band was augmented by Mashmakhan’s Rayburn Blake who added extra guitar to Doctor Tom.
