Today's Can-Con 45 is from 1982 ... David Roberts and "Boys Of Autumn" ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

For many, many years, I thought this tune was called Boys Will Be Boys. And that it was sung by Christopher Cross!

When the “Internet Machine” caught on, I never could cross reference Boys Of Autumn because I had the wrong title and artist. Finally, a few years back, I heard it on radio and, mercifully, the announcer IDed it. (Note to modern deejays: never stint on identifying set list songs. Song IDs prevents listener frustration.)

Wouldn’t be surprised if Roberts used some of the same LA musicians who backed fellow Warner Group artist Christopher Cross. Roberts relied on top players from Toto and other California studio bands for his showcase Electra album. Although Canadian-boy Roberts never caught on as a solo artist, he did make a decent living writing songs for other acts like Starship.
