Today's Can-Con 45 is from 1968 ... The 49th Parallel from Calgary and "Blue Bonnie Blue" ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Delaney Bramlett wrote this song about then-wife Bonnie whom he’d married in 1967 after she sang backup with his Shindogs band, reportedly at a California bowling alley gig. At the time, Delaney’s group was the house band for tv’s Shindig. Bonnie had been an Ikette with the Ike and Tina Turner Revue.

It would be a year or so until Delaney and Bonnie caught on. Until then, Delaney took work where he could find it...including pitching and then arranging Blue Bonnie Blue to Alberta rockers 49th Parallel when they cut some 1968 sessions in Los Angeles.
