Shayne Again.

A radio site without audio is like a TV station with no pictures.

Seemed a little subdued. Bob Morris working day shift. Who was the announcer/production voice? Did he say Elly went out
the the corner store?

The first image guy was from the States. He recorded all that stuff before the station signed on; I think it was part of the deal with the original consultant. I was never told his name. Joe Leary might know.

Bob, quite smartly, eventually brought in Steve Herringer to do the promos, IDs, etc.

Ah, pork-barrelling politicans!

Better than slurping up deserted, half-finished schooners at the Media Club.

I have a line on a lengthy JB bit where he is Herb Folley.

Until I get it posted here, I thought we could have a little fun by seeing if any of you remember Herb. I'll have to exclude Radiofan from the guessing game, as we just discussed the legendary Mr. Folley a couple of days ago.

Right you are.

Now, can anyone name either or both of the two real gardening guys that JB was making fun of? One on either side of the 49th parallel.

Ed Hume south of the 49th.
David Tarrant north of the 49th.

No on both counts Mr. Sandclan

Great chrx aircheck. Back when chrx first went on the air did they use a mixture of cds and lps or cds and carts? just curious!

All CDs, Bry. We had two Denons in the control room. The old CJOR turntables were covered up.

I just realised I work with people who hadn't even been born then.

Thanks to Bry bringing this thread back to life, I just noticed jon's question hasn't been answered yet, so I'll spill the beans here ...

JB's resident gardener Herb Folley was based on one or both of the following (they all have similar names too!)

CKNW's Good Gardening man was Billy Holly (Hawley?) .. and from Seattle there was Cecil (Seh-Cil) Solley.
