CKLG Plan To Attend

Postby radiofan » Sun Jul 25, 2010 10:45 am

From CKLG's PAMS "Happy Difference" package a Sunday jingle ... and on the instramental trailer, they'd mention a few churches ...

CKLG ... Plan To Attend

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

I actually remember when CKLG ran that particular piece of imaging. And the live tag line.

It was run in the years when 6am-noon Sunday mornings on both CFUN and CKLG was nothing but religious programming. Didn't CKLG limit their mention of churches in the live tag line to those that aired live services or other programming on the station?

The pieces of the Radio London jingle package included on "The Who Sell Out" album (recorded in 1967) includes a generic "Attend the church of your choice" jingle that was presumably included as a freebie for all stations that bought that package.

I remember listening to CKLG on Sunday mornings after the Church services were history and the music was way more Middle Of The Road than the
regular format. One song that sticks out like a sore thumb is Waltzing Matilda by Jimmie Rodgers. I'm sure Dave Palmer played that thing every
Sunday morning.

Long after the Sunday morning on air chirch services were gone, CKLG still ran "The World Tomorrow" with Garner Ted Armstrong every weekday
morning from 6 - 6:30. That money making chunk of airtime remained until late 1969 or early 1970.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Coincidentally, David Palmer is, and has been for some years now, an ordained minister and the media and communications representative/reporter for the Vancouver congregation of The United Church of God.
God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny.

Interesting tid-bit Neumann.

I enjoyed Dave, very nice guy, and highly capable.
