What a mishmash of equipment!
The master control board is a highly modified old tube McCurdy.
The production board a later transistorised model, the same one we installed in the late '60's at CJOC in Lethbridge.
McCurdy turntables, Ampex 601's , a Revox A77, Ampex 351 tape machines and one of just about every cart machine ever invented from the first models to the latest (at that time.)
Keeping all that stuff running must have been a nightmare.
Gotta love those Olympia typewriters.
Did they only have ALL CAPS?

God , these pics bring back some memory's . The '75 control room changed a bit from my time there ( '67 ). I remember the rack over the turntables on the left . That looks the same . I don't know how many times I banged my head on that thing , trying to cue up a record .

Yeah, one of the clunking Spotmasters. Getting them to fire silently was a challenge sometimes.

The Olympias were all caps but not the BIG CAPS like 'NW had. The typewriters were taken to 8th Avenue along with that Revox, which looks a lot less battered than it did about 20 years later.

I was there then, but damned if I can remember the young lady holding the phone. I remember fondly that Yvonne Lehner and Ellen Short both were in Reception at that time. Anyone with a better memory?

I do certainly remember her... but I cannot recall her name for the life of me...

I'll add my name to the growing, ever helpful, list of those who don't know who she is.

John K., I remember hearing you on NW, were you at CJOR prior to NW? I left in early 76 so that may give you a clue

I started as a beat reporter at 'OR back when Mr Collins was News Director/Talk Show host... after having done numerous shifts for Mauri Hesketh prior to that time.
I was there until the end... along with 53 others on that very last day of 'OR's existence in September of 1988...

That ol' Spotmaster was the delay machine for the talk shows. I picked up its twin on eBay a few months ago. I was at OR in 1971 and recall that there was a lot of room behind the board - large record racks and an equipment rack that had transmitter monitoring equipment as well as the automatic time tone. There is an incredibly old cart machine in Al Jordan's production control room - a Moulic.

Arthur Dent: "Good grief. Is this really the interior of a flying saucer?"
Ford Prefect: "Yes. What do you think?"
Arthur Dent: "Well, it's a bit squalid, isn't it?"...

Arthur Dent: If I asked you where the hell we were, would I regret it?
Ford Prefect: We're safe.
Arthur Dent: Oh good.
Ford Prefect: We're in a small galley cabin in one of the spaceships of the Vogon Constructor Fleet.
Arthur Dent: Ah, this is obviously some strange use of the word safe that I wasn't previously aware of.

Sure am hoping someone can identify the lady in the picture, never mind some obscure board from a broadcasting studio. Just kidding, you technos have a great deal in common and it must excite you all in seeing all the old equipment.

It reminds me of my early days at CKGM in Montreal.....getting set to operate for Herb Manning and Pat Burns....we used a tape loop over an Ampex to run an eight second delay. Please don't ask anything more....I have no clue how it worked, unless the splice broke, then all something else broke out too....and it did several times.

Would anyone have a pic of one Yvonne Lehner......I ran into her in the mid-90's when I was at Vancouver Intn'l Airport. She was a flight attendant with Canadian Airlines......oh my!!! Yvonne Simpson by then....mother of twins. Absolutely gorgeous as she was twenty years earlier.
