A new all-time low for CKNW! Congratulations Ian.

A nasty book (..or so it appears at first look) also for JR, The Beat and JACK.
Much happiness at QM,CFMI, CISL and a decided "wow" for CBC.

Nice turnaround for CISL. It suddenly outrates sister FM LG 104.3. There should be some fun explaining to do to NewCap brass on this one.

JR takes an almost two share dump, and no growth at The Peak. Could this cause a sudden retirement a day before the book comes out?

QM remains strong, no real Christmas blip this year.

CBC what can you say but WOW. They've earned it. They have more than double NW's share.

If it wasn't for Coast To Coast, what would NW have? Maybe a 3.5. There will a bloodbath shortly. Maybe Corus will just sell it off to some ethnic group.

Not really surprised about JR. My girlfriends family was a PPM family until this past December, I'm sure they were a big part of JR's 7.0+ numbers as they constantly listen(ed) to JR. But in the end, 2+ numbers are meaningless.

Not a bad book for the Corus Black Tower (if you don't count CKNW - and does anybody really believe that ship will pop back up to the surface?). Congrats to both The Fox and Rock 101.

Now we know why Gerry Siemens 'retired'.

CKNW is in trouble and what about that "Million Dollar Morning Man" over on Ash Street?

CBC wins and you are paying for it, so smile.

Wow…CKNW. I saw this coming. Worst ratings ever!

1. Jon…Your constant rant of mental illness is driving me crazy (fact: people care more about fallen trees in Stanley Park, then the homeless)! Maybe ask for a 0.5% PST increase for your cause.
2. Simi…Quoting from Twitter and Facebook is not news or intelligent or interesting. Why do you keep asking people with no opinion, their opinion? Replaying other radio hosts’ shows is lazy!
3. Mike…whining about the government not spending enough money on special interest show how naive you are. You remind me of my son who want something for nothing (he is 8 yo.)
4. Weekends full of American White-Noise radio and/or advertising is dead air.
5. Your demographic do not listen to the radio, but spending their time gossiping on social media. You want young people to listen but advertise for retirement homes and joint pain.

Michael Campbell….ONLY reason to to have CKNW on my tuner.
Bruce Allen DOES speak for the silent majority.

Bring in hosts who have actually lived outside the Lower Mainland, with an educated opinion and can talk about real life experiences.

Looking at David Bray's numbers that Jon has posted in the Edmonton thread, CKNW and CBU are tied for #11 in 25-54 Males this book. Last Fall, NW had a 6.2 share.

For a station that made changes last summer to go after a younger demo, a 2 1/2 share loss in that demo tells me things didn't go as planned.

I have to agree with most of Stephen's points in the post above.

They've not only done their best to dust off the older audience, they're successfully blowing off the desired audience they so badly want.

How long until the days are filled with Corus network programming shared between Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Calgary?

Like most people I know, there is no longer any reason to tune into NW.

No need for the FM repeater, it won't be serving anybody.

Now that Sonic has been rebranded as KISS, how long til they drop the teeny bopper Top 40 appeal and go after QM with a gold based Hot A/C format?

You can only be a bottom feeder for so long before the cash machine runs dry.

I think the full impact of the programming changes at NW are finally being reflected in the ratings. You really have to work at blowing off an established audience but the brain trust at NW has succeeded. Whomever is programming the music on both CISL and Classic Hits doesn't have a clue. It's beyond awful. I guess they aren't spending any money on research and they've got somebody doing it cheap. The reality is that the 2+ ratings are meaningless and that all of the station groups are making millions. There really aren't that many radio stations carving up the Vancouver pie and they are all getting fat. Corus is not going to want to shovel all the money they are making into NW so I predict more cutbacks.

With CBC radio 1 in first place in the Vancouver area, Second in Edmonton and Fourth in Calgary... It would be interesting to see how the "mother Corps" did across Canada.... Of more relevance to BC listeners, how did CBC radio 1 do in Victoria, Prince George, Kamloops, Kelowna and other smaller markets.... It would be interesting to see those numbers.

The other BC markets are only rated once or twice a year and still use diaries rather than PPM. CBC does well in most other areas of the province.

I took the Bray 25-54 numbers and averaged them between Genders. Here is what happens when you do that:
103.5 QM FM - 11.65
99.3 The Fox - 9.6
Rock 101 - 9.45
The Beat 94.5 - 9
Z 95.3 - 8.35
News 1130 - 6.7
96.9 Jack FM - 6.55
93.7 JR FM - 5.25
CFUN-FM SONiC - 4.7
102.7 The Peak - 3.85
LG104.3 - 3.75
CBC Radio One - 3.55
The Team 1040 - 3.55
CKNW - 3.1
CBC Radio Two - 2.5
Praise 106.5 - 1.65
CISL 650 - 1.55
AM 730 Traffic - 1.1
Team 1410 - 0.5

You can't do that unless every there was equal gender targeting by the stations. Since there are fewer male-targeted stations, they're going to look disproportionately high.
