CKNW now using generic Global website

Postby radiofan » Tue Jun 13, 2017 2:03 pm

CKNW has now joined other Corus stations in the west and is now using a Global based domain and website.

What's next to go, the call letters?
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

CHED has also made the move. As recently as two weeks ago, they still had their own non-Global site.

Not just the Desktop version of CHED's web site, but also the Mobile version of their web site and also the 630CHED Android app. They all take you to the same Global Edmonton web site.

Before you know it individual radio stations will adopt the Global logo and signature call sign. Owners have some strange idea that using a single brand will increase their profit margin. Perhaps so, eventually but what do listeners/viewers do for alternate sources of information providing different opinions, local input, variety and corporate points of view? It's not like some of us didn't see it coming at least a decade ago.
