Today's Can-Con 45 is from 1979 ... from the Baldry's Out LP, Long John Baldry with Bill Amesbury's "A Thrill's A Thrill" ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Deans Cameron and his Capitol Records Canada displayed great brio in signing Long John and agreeing to release such adventurous fare as this song. A Thrill's A Thrill, in my view, is every bit as genre daring as Walk On The Wild Side by Lou Reed. As I noted in a previous post about the song's author, Bill Amesbury may have signalled the changes coming to his life with this composition. A few years later, Bill transitioned to Barbara and entered a longterm relationship with a Toronto philanthropist.
