Recording wise, Gino essentially vanished after his mid-career hits with Polydor. He did make an ambitious leap into quasi opera, not a huge surprise given his voice’s power and range. But a long shot, nonetheless, for conventional album success.

In recent times, he’s played decent-sized halls and casino theatres where, again, fans can appreciate one of the finest voices to ever hold sway in Canadian music.

For some years now, Gino apparently lives at least part time in Oregon. His brothers Ross and Joe run a California studio that Burton Cummings, among other artists, has booked.

I got a chance to see him perform in Las Vegas a few years ago. He had a great band and was in fine voice. HIs very first album has a jazz feel and is worth seeking out.
