It's hard to believe it's been 7 years since we lost lifelong friends Rick Honey and Daryl B within days of each other. Rick died on Saturday February 24th, 2001 at age 54 after a courageous battle with cancer. Daryl was fighting health problems of his own in his hometown of Winnipeg. Upon hearing of Rick's death, Daryl had a major stroke and died on Tuesday February 27, 2001 at age 58.
We lost two Western Canadian broadcast legends within 2 days seven years ago this week.
Here is the final hour of Rick's last CKNW Road Show from May 30, 1997.

Following his 24 year stint at CKNW, Rick went on to do mornings at STAR FM in Chilliwack for a year, and then held down the AM Drive spot at 600 AM until 2 days before his death.

Daryl B arrived in Vancouver in late 1965 when he was hired away from CKY in Winnipeg by Red Robinson at CFUN. Other than a brief stint at Windsor's CKLW in 1970, Daryl spent close to 20 years in Vancouver at CFUN and CKLG. In the mid 1980's Daryl headed east to CHUM in Toronto.
Here's an aircheck of Daryl along with JB Shayne from a CFUN Reunion Weekend in the early 1980's.
