The CKPG pics brought back some 'fond' memories, mostly of the proximity to the bar across the street.

(If you look very carefully at the colour pic, you'll see where I scratched my initials into the wood... which means this photo was taken after 1975.)

John Sykes circa 1905, just off his covered wagon after heading west from Montreal.

Looks like a young Pierre Berton...

According to the CBC, Berton "got his start in both broadcasting and newspaper writing at the same place: the University of British Columbia. He was editor of the campus newspaper The Ubyssey, and was also the campus correspondent for a Vancouver daily. UBC had no radio station of its own at the time, but as a member of the school's radio society, Berton hosted school-themed programs on local Vancouver stations."

the guy in the rick hansen t-shirt is Alan Thom...the beard has thinned out a bit. He is living in the Similkameen these days.
